The curved coffee/tea cup with saucer is formally a feast for the eyes and, from cappuccino to hot chocolate, can also be used in many different ways. The shape that runs to the point and the deliberate mattness of the hand-ground exterior almost lend the milk jug the aura of an abstract sculpture. The large round teapot with handle is one of the most famous forms created by designer Stefanie Hering. In the pure version with glazed body and matt, hand-cut lid, its harmonious proportions are particularly effective. Both the wide curve of the handle and the long spout are on the limit of what is possible with porcelain forms.
